Goodbye Winter / The Human Condition
Michael St.Mark 2013
Spring equinox special
CONTEXT
____________________________________________________________________
Meadow with melting snow. Trent Park, Cockfosters.
Dual-titled Work
Artist’s comment – in tandem with the image & title.
The persistently long winter finally relents, leaving behind a field mostly free of snow except for giant icy mementos rolled into creation at its height – but that will also inexorably melt in time.
Reflection on the human being’s inbuilt urge to create and maintain a record of his presence on earth, but which however large or grand are, barring exceptions, ultimately destined to fade into obscurity like tears in the rain.

The gigantic rolled snowballs in the parks here are usually the last to melt – nice try, kiddies and dads!
