What sort of reaction would he get if he went on stage today looking like that? (Besides being laughed off the planet). How times – and the definition of “cool” – change.
I was once doing some car stereo fitting in a Porsche dealership on the Finchley Rd, London, when this guy turned up to fit some speed stripes plus two little computer-cut vinyl logos on the sides of a spanking new Jaguar sports. He said it was for Bowie to use as he was driving to Switzerland for the Montreux festival.
Guess what the logos were? – Harrods.
What a silly show-off he was.

He is a wonderful nonsensemonger. I enjoy his early work. I have one of his songs in my head at the moment. I am not sure which one. It’s very accurate though, this song and full of briane and fullsome excess.

as for the reaction if he went on stage – have you seen big brother…..I confess to only seeing the first part where they all go in, but by gum, Bowie would look better than most of those women, no men, no she, no he……..DD 🙂

Well if he got away with songs titled ” Diamond dogs” and ” Spiders from Mars” Hector’s effort seems quite apt for Mr Bowie, the onetime king of eccentricity.
