There’s something liberating about intimately observing complete strangers in this way. One sees them as they will never see themselves – without identity, complexity or bias. Or as perfect avatars.

The stranger the common man
the stranger the common man.

The stranger the common man
the stranger the common man.

    • I bet you’re heart was racing a little there as you scrolled down the images. ..
Do you ever go in Sable D’Or Coffee Shop on the Broadway? I seek sanctuary upstairs there quite often. One can sit there and have the whole floor to yourself if you go in early enough and the waitresses can’t hardly be bothered climbing the stairs to serve one cafe Latte!
So I rip the top off a can of brought-in diet coke and a morning cereal bar whilst scanning the Independent.

Us artists arn’t half an odd breed, Debbie.
