About Michael St.Mark

Conceptual / experimental multi-discipline artist, writer and photographer. Art influencer and founder of London Dada, recalling Dada's original aims and principles as envisaged by it's founder Hugo Ball. Eschews the often politically-motivated taboo on expressions of critical thought within art. Admiring Duchamp in going beyond the seemingly endless infatuation with the ' pretty picture' retinal and instead refusing to accept the standards and practices of an established corrupt art world and creatively stifling conventions that are still considered essential to attain fame and financial success: refusing to repeat himself or to develop one recognizable style to placate the commercial needs of the market.

London Dada Work No. 849; What’s the Storey, Welsh Assembly?

Storey Arms tourist hotspot neglected
What’s the Storey, Welsh Assembly?
Michael St.Mark 2016

Scene at the Storey Arms tourist hotspot in the Brecon Beacons, South Wales ( frequently used as an emergency toilet )

Neglected and totally under-developed over decades apart from an outdoor education centre for young people, this famous Welsh tourist hotspot and main hillwalkers’  springboard to Pen-y-Fan, southern Britain’s highest point, is a national disgrace. The massively overcrowded car park is in dire need of expanding, with vehicles being parked dangerously near the road on grass verges for 1/4 mile down the hill in the busy summer months. A safe crossing for walkers over the very busy A road with its fast-moving cars and trucks, from the car park to the mountain path, urgently needs constructing.  The whole site is badly in need of modernizing out of its present threadbare infrastructure with – where there are any – run-down antiquated facilities. Says a lot about the Labour-controlled Welsh Assembly’s priorities, considering its been in existence for many years now. If this Welsh gem was duplicated anywhere else in W. Europe it would be recognized for the vibrant tourist hub that it is and developed & made fit for the 21st C instead of being left to languish as a shabby run-down 1970s relic.

is a critique of how modern technology and social media filter our perception of reality, making the mediated view preferable to direct experience “
